For a couple of us in West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland, there are a couple of sources of hardwoods, but not that many. Greg3G and I have gone to Frederick, MD to get some in the past. Well, I just found another one in Kearnesville, WV. Which is between Martinsburg, WV and Charles Town, WV. So in case you didn’t know about it, here is the info.

McDaniel Hardwoods

I spoke to the owner and he has a nice selection of alot of lumber mostly 4/4,5/4 up to 8/4. Most of his boards are planed on one side with a jointed? edge. Suitable for cutting with a table saw. I couldn’t believe the purple heart and tigerwood boards that he had which were 12’ or taller and at least 12” wide.

He does have plywood, hardwood, veneers, glue, finishes, and numerous cabinet hardware pieces.

Planing and custom moulding can be done at a price.

Thanks for posting this guys. I can’t believe how hard it is to find affordable lumber in and around VA. Siewers in downtown Richmond (no website) is the only place I can find. While they do seem to have an ok selection and also have good quality product, their prices seem a bit high at times. Not completely unreasonable, but I think they take capitalize on being the only game in town.

SPalm mentioned the place in Frederick, MD that I have gone to in the past. They seem a little more pricey than McDaniels. If anyone else knows of local hardwoods, please post them here.

You guys need to travel just a little farther east to Hicksville MD. You can’t beat the prices at the Hicksville Planing Mill. It is run my “Plain” (religious) folks. They have the best prices around.

I live in TN and have shopped at McDaniels. They are some nice folks. If you go there you need to call Greg3G, he lives like 10 mins from them.
