Topic tags/keywords: jointer table leveling 54a coplanar

I’m turning to the Forum for help.

My Powermatic 54A Tables are not coplanar, and the adjusting gibs seem useless in resolving the issue – I’ve loosened them to where they virtually fall out of the machine, but do not seem to move the tables – I have concerns about tightening them – but I’m not sure why… Currently, my tables dip in the middle, by the cutter head, and it appears that I need to lower the table-ends. On my 54A, there appear to be 3 gibs on both the Infeed and outfeed tables – though, the manual shows 2 are for table leveling.

I’ve ordered a 50” aluminum straight-edge and feeler gauges from Lee Valley – for use once I determine how to adjust the tables.

Any insight the Forum members can provide is most appreciated.

Do Take Care.

You can use pieces of aluminum soda cans for shims.
