This is only happening on LJ, not on other sites I’ve been on. Everything is taking a long time—pages to load, scrolling up or down—even letters to show up after typing them. Everything eventually loads.

No emergency . . . just odd.

I have noticed at peak times (maybe) the site struggles to load at times. Thought maybe it was my connection, but I don’t think so. As more and more people are joining in, the server has to be updated to handle the demand.

Im out in the boonies and can only get satellite (been there, done that.. ick!) or wireless service through Sprint. Its only 3g so streaming can be a challenge in the evening but at least I have unlimitted download. As far as my LJ experience tonight, no problems. Everything loads up and scrolls easily. Perhaps you need to reboot your computer? I know Internet Explorer can be a memory hog if you have mulitple windows open.

Who knows what it is? Everything else moves at a very fast speed (I keep multiple chrome windows open at almost all times), so I can switch instantly and see how other sites respond. I’ve downloaded 100 mb tonight converting .pub files—no slowdowns there. I’m humming along everywhere but LJ. and I’ve never had that problem on LJ either.

Again—no emergency. As you can see, I can still post—it just takes 45 seconds to a minute from when I press post to when it does.

BTW, after being slow for about an hour, now LJ is back to full speed for me.

Could have been a slow down in one of the jumps your provider uses to get you from place to place.

The next time it happens open a command prompt and type: tracert lumberjocks.com then press enter

That will give you a list of the jumps your request is making to different servers and how long it takes between jumps.

Charles,

It’s only happening to me when the sawstop adds are running at the randomly generated add banner at the top.

They are working on something in the backend that it might be related to. I will keep an eye on it for now to see if it clears up completely.
