I just received an order for 25 cheese boards for a small wine shop / cafe here in town. They also would like me to replace a few table tops. The manager would like a thick, durable, glass like finish for the table tops. He mentioned seeing a restaurant with tables with what appeared to be a thick resin like material for the finish. Can anyone tell me what this resin like material is and how easy or hard it is to work with? Thanks

Pour on epoxy. Takes a little practice but works great.

Another good option is Behlen’s rock hard table top finish. Builds thick and strong.

There are several finishes that would work but the first thing I thought of was epoxy.

Epoxy sounds good. If you have access to a spray gun, 2pack AC high-solids Lacquer 2/3 coats does the job. Did some bar/restaurant table tops and no problems with hot plates or drinks spillage.
