Topic tags/keywords: question tool router palm router dremel signs

I have received a couple requests from friends and family for signs, and was thinking about purchasing a palm router to carve out the letters. While looking around at a couple models, I saw a new Dremel tool (I think its the TRIO) designed like a palm router.

Does anyone have experience with either palm routers or the Dremel Trio to recommend either over the other?

I’d go for a palm router.
The ridgid R2401 is an amazing trimmer, and the LED is a big help for small details. I have three.

My Palm router is wonderful. Especially for cutting signs.

I saw one of these in one of the big box stores the other day and almost bought it. Maybe I should take another look.

I’m thinking palm router for the main fact that the Dremel has a smaller collet, making all of my other bits useless.

thanks for the info guys

I have the ridged r2401 it’s an amazing little machine. I say little but I was really amazed at the power the tiny moter actually has. I’ve been very impressed with how much the little thing can actually do.

I’m assuming that the palm router, compact router, Laminate Trimmer and trim router are all the same?

Myself I have the Dewalt D26670 in my inventory would this be the same as what a palm router is?

Thanks

yeah Randy, they basically are. I went with the Ridgid based on what was recommended. Haven’t gotten to use it yet but I like what I’ve seen so far, as far as features go

The dewalt and porter cable compacts are a bit bigger than the palm routers.
