Topic tags/keywords: cd dvd shopnotes

I was wondering about the CDs that are available from ShopNotes. Are they in PDF format or some proprietary format that can’t be read but by custom software on the disk. Reason I am asking is because I do not use Windows or Apple products.

I am concern about losing my money by ordering them because they may use special Windows based software that reads encrypted files.

I know they say Windows is required and that may not necessarily be the whole truth. Most of the time the companies do not want to make claims to support other systems than Windows because they don’t bother to test. If someone has a CD and could check to see if the files are in PDF format then I know I won’t be wasting my money ordering a set of CDs. Thank You

You do not mention which OS you are using. That would have been helpful. So I will assume that you are using Linux? If this is the case Linux can read virtually any kind of format and is able to convert to any kind of format.
I would think it is in a pdf format, I cannot confirm as I never bought a shopnotes CD.

I am using Linux. I know if it is a standard format like a PDF it would not be a problem. Even if they was using a special Windows software to read a proprietary encrypted file I might be able to use Wine to run the program. But I was hoping to find out before sinking my money into buying the CD/DVDs.

The text image is a penguin named Tux which is the mascot for Linux, the Operating System I use. The name/word Widu is Old English for wood.

I am a computer programmer and industrial electrician whose hobby is woodworking.

I wouldn’t say you was dumb after all Will Rogers said “You know everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects.”

And a few hours ago I didn’t know widu was Old English for wood. I looked it up to find a unique user nickname.
