Topic tags/keywords: question

I have the good fortune to be going to New Zealand in a couple of weeks, Wellington. I would like to score some unique wood from there but am unsure as to what to look for or where to get it.

I was in Australia in 2012 and met with a fellow lumberjock and was able to purchase quite a bit from him but was wondering if there are any woods in NZ that are only found there?

@Mark, Not from LJ, but was in Palmerston North, NZ and contacted the local Woodworking Guild. I was invited to come by and was able to chat with the folks there. I met with several of them over the course of my visit and obtained 94 lbs of various types of wood that I brought home. SCORE!!!!!

Neil,

Did you have any problems getting your wood through Customs?

@MisterBill – Scanned but never stopped, from my reading of the US Customs website, they are concerned about live plants as are most countries.
