I would like to build a Maloof office chair but struggling to find the base units. I will make the base legs but need the cylinder and mechanisms to raise/lower/tilt and the swivel wheels.

This caught my eye, I happen to like quality office furniture.
The one Maloof chair I could find $5000, had the old style acme screw to raise the chair.
If you want the air cylinder lift, the cylinder runs about $40 or so from Steelcase.
But, the actual seat mounting hardware, may be harder to find, and could be costly.
I would look for a quality chair such as Steelcase or Cramer used with the adjustments you want, and rob the parts off of one.
Chairs like that run from around $25 to $125 used in my area, though they cost several hundreds new.
Sitting nice and comfy right now in a Steelcase chair.

Have your say...
