This week I found and purchased a 20 year collection of some really cool veneers. This collection belonged to the brother of a former customer I worked for about 10 years ago. The man and his wife both worked for a large veneer company for many years, and brought home many treasures during that time, The mans wife passed away a few years ago and he realized he was never going to use all of this, and then I stepped in. After a 5 month delay, I drove 2 hours away and was overwhelmed by what I found. After checking out his collection, which by the way he kept in 2 rooms of his house, we agreed on a price and spent 2 1/2 hours loading it all on my truck and trailer. I now have more veneer than I could use in 3 lifetimes, so I am going to attempt to identify, measure and catalogue it so I can sell some and let others enjoy some of this beautiful wood. At present I can identify about half of it. Some of it I have never seen before. I’m sure I will seek the help of the Lumberjock crowd to help with identifying some of the unusual ones.

was that a PM65 under those piles? After you get it sorted I’m sure quite a few of us will want some if you chose to sell it.

Nice find!

If you have some walnut burl you don’t mind getting rid of, I call first dibs.

I do have walnut burl, I think there is even some burl with curl in it if that’s even possible. As soon as I catalogue and measure it I

I will post some better pics

You are a lucky man Jeff. This is special material,
Please use it wisely. ( I have no doubt you will )
I look forward to the projects that come from this beautiful veneer.

Different veneer sellers have different species and pictures but this one is a good start.

Have you checked the thickness? Most veneer on the market today is 1/42”. In years past thicker was the rule.
It would be interesting to know if any is over 1/32”.

Paul thanks for the web site info. Some of the veneers I have are over 1/32 almost 1/16” I think some of these veneers are over 30 years old.

You didn’t indicate how much you paid for your treasures so we don’t know whether or not you deserve a “You Suck”.
