I am building this project and I am in need of a hinge that will allow the lid to open on the long side. Note that the legs run to the top of the box and are on 45s. Any thoughts? Would a barrel hinge work?

Lee Valley has free shipping until tomorrow . . . so if there are LV suggestions it would be great.

I think barrel hinges have about the same geometry as a regular hinge. They might work if you put them in the ends of the legs. I guess that’s what you’re thinking. If not, you might have to go with something like a European cabinet hinge, that lifts the lid away from the case when it opens.
