I bought a home in October right across from my parents house. Decided to save money by building some of the furniture myself, but also because a professional woodworker buying furniture is a tad silly. I made a table out of pine. Quick, easy, cheap table i just went for without plans. I need a good finish to put on it, its still bare. Luckily its just me so only one meal has been eaten at it. I want to stay away from shellac because I’ve heard it doesn’t hold up well to moisture and spills. I have some Danish oil, how does that work with pine?

Use waterborne poly floor finish (Varathane or Bona Mega are good). If you can dance on it, you can eat off it. Read my blog.

I like danish oil. But unless you either have beetle kill pine or old growth that’s really heavy grain, I am not sure that it will do much for it. For a finish, +1 with what Clint said.
