Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw tablesaw jointer shopsmith

I go to estate sales and saw one coming up this week. It has a Shopsmith with Jointer, Bandsaw and Dust Collector. It is all New in the Box! The sale is in Weatherford.

I emailed the company. The owner paid over $4700. There is a copy of the receipt shown. They are asking $3600. The seller said he is taking offers so I think it will go for less. How much less, guess that depends on how good a haggler your are.

You can see all the boxes and the receipt at http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/TX/Weatherford/76086/571527

There are photos and a phone number. If your are interested, call the first number and ask for Jim.

“In the box” will count for something but used SS in really good shape can be had waaaaay cheaper depending on your area. My Mark V with jointer and bandsaw in as good as brand new condition cost me $800 in Benson Az. The HF dust collector, a more powerful unit is on sale this week for around $150.

Also you can buy the new Mark 7 PowerPro model, far superior machine for $3979.00.

Thanks Pual. I know you are quite knowledgeable about Shopsmith as I follow your postings. Just wanted to put the word out in case someone had been thinking about a new Shopsmith.

Have thought about getting one for myself to save space. I work out of a one car garage/storage building! Just like my old equipment since most is late 40’s early 50’s sold cast iron stuff.

Bill,
It’s a great machine. And Paul is right on about the Power pro. But, only YOU can gauge it’s worth to YOU.
Generally speaking, because of the Shopsmith’s excellent design and longevity, a used machine very likely will be just as serviceable as one new in the box.
