I’m thinking of upgrading my 6” jointer for an 8”. Saw this add on craigslist. I know it is not worth the 2000 he is asking for it since a new top of the line 0495x is 1900. But this thing weighs in at 800 lbs. So is anyone familiar with this model?

The same jointer is in the current Grizzly catalog for $1999. So I don’t think it’s much of a bargain. Their similar jointers (with spiral cutterhead) without the other elegant features is around $1300, give or take a few bucks—2 or 3 models in that price range.

No, but you don’t need a production jointer in less than
a production environment.

Northfield makes a “medium duty” 8” jointer in the same
weight class. The price will shock you.

I am familiar with the current 049x lineup. What I was looking at were the differences with the older model.

i.e. 0495x to the 9859z

4 row cutter to 6 row cutter

36 carbide inserts to 60 carbide inserts

3 1/16 ” cutterhead to 4” cutterhead

796 lb shipping weight to 1000 lb.
