What do you think about it? First question; good or bad idea?

Well there are region in USA, NW, SE, etc. Maybe even by states… To have a competition where either regions or states compete against each other, much like football and there is a winner. Will get sponsors involved and so on.

madts, it is just a another game.. you don’t have to freeze your butt off to watch it; just cheer for the winning state. it is not about a person but what the state/region present. And you are the judge not a third party.

There are just about several representatives here from every states.
it can be state tournaments that choose a project to enter in a national tournament. And the winner is that state; and yes, a person gets recognized nationally. Just a thought since we get to be judges and sponsors pour in; hopefully.

Being able to judge if it’s a good or bad idea, the idea should be clearly stated. A competition!
Would you mind sharing more details of what you are precisely thinking about the competition?

It might help clarify and might help you get answers from other LJ if it’s a good or bad idea.
I admit I am a little bit confuse about your idea of a competition

How:
-do you plan to organize it?
-do you plan to judge who is the winner
-do you plan the logistic?
-do you plan to get the sponsors

What is the price for the winner
How long would it be running
What would be the conditions and rules …

Sorry for those questions but I am not Nostradamus and do not read minds. But I am sure your idea is great.
....
Thank you for your input.

lepelerin, thanks for your input. Actually, I was hoping some of the more experienced people here would help with the questions you have asked. So, my thinking was if this was a good idea, to get a state and national championship going, then let’s put our skills together and come up with ideas as how it should be implemented. As far as the prize; winning a national contest by itself is a prize. But I think contacting folks like Grizzly, Baileigh and others, will provide sponsorship and prize. Currently, there are 85600 members here and more people are becoming members daily. The organization can be done via 3 or 4 representatives from each participating state forming a committee. My thinking is, it would be an annual event, to give the participants time to prepare and produce their project. Condition an rules has to be decided by the committee. The judges can be non-participants in the competition and future winner with good standing in this community who elect to run as judges and are voted by the members of this community. The committee can choose a theme submitted by the community.
I am just coming up with some answers from the top of my head. As I said, if people think this is a good idea, then the rest has to be worked out as a group not a one man executive show… too big of a task for that.
