I see LJs has an relatively active facebook page, but I don’t recognize any of the user names there as on here. Do people just use different names or do the facebook users not use the real LJ?

I have a Facebook page, and have several other Lumberjocks on my friend list. Most of them use their real names on Facebook, as opposed to the “handles” we have here.

I was not aware of the Lumberjocks Facebook page, though. I’ll have to go check it out.

On further review…. I’m already friends with the LJ page. Senility sets in!

I have an account on FB, but only check it once a week or so. There are too many postings of people walking their dog or at this or that store for me to bother. I’ve got enough distractions in life, this site being one of them.

Looks like we are also pretty active on twitter, but not so much on google+, though I don’t think anything is active on google+

I am not very active on Facebook. LJs is my social site.

I use Facebook like my answering machine:

1. Never check the messages, (my wife speaks in Russian telling you this on the message) LOL
2. Never bother to delete messages I never checked so it is always full.
3. Have no need to post the intimate details of my life as some mentioned. I mean really do you think I need or want to know you just took a shower and had a shave?

ROFLMAO

Facebook has made many “Silent Changes” to their Privacy Policy as of late.

I get a couple of “Geek” Newsletters. Facebook is an ongoing topic of “More Changes”. “Sure. Do it, but don’t bother telling the existing Members. Harvest ALL the Info that’s worth Harvesting (A Computer Alone will do that) to our Partners. Take out the “Parental Consent” thing for anyone under age” ... and on, and on, and on.

Bottom Line. Pretty well anyone can access your account even if you have it marked “Private”. Whatever you put on Facebook is Fair Game for anyone who wants to “Use It”, Anywhere.

Try Cancelling your account with them and watch what happens.

Twitter is about the same.

Below is ONE Page out of Dozens I jut happened to save. This Conversation is actually Three Pages long. One’s enough.

NO! I don’t belong to ANY Social Media Sites.

I am a pretty heavy FB user but I also fully understand that everything I post will be public, so if I don’t want it seen, I don’t post it. ;-)
