On thing I really like about living in New England is I have many lumber mills and Hardwood outlets within a 40 minute drive. I have access to just about any species I would want to work with quickly.

My company has asked me to relocate to Charlotte, NC. We will likely be making the move in July. I travel there one week a month now. can someone recommend some local-ish hardwood dealers or mills to check out?

I’m not in Charlotte, but when I lived in Goldsboro, NC there were several-many in the Winston-Salem, Hickory and surrounding areas off I-40 Magnavox had a construction facility for deluxe TV consoles and cabinets there for that reason Of course there are several fine furniture manufacturing companies in central NC.

There’s quite a few mills in our Weaverville, NC area, just north of Asheville – about 2 hours from Charlotte.
Cormark has a lot of interesting woods & they’re in Weaverville.
