I guess I should have waited to post my project until after they fixed the Top 3. I was hoping it would be added after the glitch was fixed.

It looks like it may be fixed now. Oh well.

The Top 3 would have been cool and I’m sure that would have helped more people see it. Maybe next time.

Top 3 is calculated on the first 24h after the project is posted and is not just views/time favourited but also on # of comments.

Manitario, The Top 3 was definitely down, The bench cookies were on the “daily top 3” for a week.

My project had the most favorites and comments by a margin and views in the top 3 the first 24 hours.

No biggie.

This is clearly a top 3 project – Hopefully, the site tech team fills in the Top 3 for that time when the process was down.

It is clear that can be done as the Top 3 badges go back to the beginning even though the idea has been in place for a much shorter time.

By the way I missed that project somehow. Now it has another favorite!

Knockknock,

I guess that is something. I had not checked that. Interesting to make the 30 Day Hot Projects list after only a week, but miss the Daily Top 3.

When I posted I didn’t know the Top 3 was broken. Some of the other site problems had just been fixed, though.

Not that I expected sawhorses to be a hit, they aren’t exactly fine woodworking. I was somewhat surprised that they were so well received and then surprised again when after being popular that they didn’t make the Top 3 when the numbers made it seem like they would.

That is when I noticed that the Top 3 feature must have been broken.

That is all.

You are right in that they would have made top 3. A lot of the top 3 is what catches peoples eye. t doesn’t have to be elaborate. After you have been here a while, it is also not as big of deal. If you came up with the sawhorses, then I am sure you have other things worthy as well.

Top 3 is kind of voodoo, seems to be a mixture of comments, views, with some personal preference thrown in; and the occasional oddball thing that leaves you scratching your head.

I think it used to be automatic based on views but a few people figured out how to jimmy the system and get all sorts of things promoted to Top 3 so it’s good if there is human intervention.

I noticed you got Editor’s Choice. They are a great design. I have to make some for my new shop! Won’t have a workbench for a while.

Well I liked them. I am one of the LJs that favorited them. Been wanting some some saw horses that don’t take up much space when not in use. Think these may fit that need better that any other idea I have seen.

Thanks for posting them.

don’t feel too bad lumberbud … the top three is a newer feature put in place a couple years ago.
ponder this … http://lumberjocks.com/projects/2446 ... this project was number one on favorites for over a year… now there are 6l pages of favorites ahead of it… http://lumberjocks.com/projects/by/favorites/page/6

Your saw horses are a terrific project. Love the design. Would be awesome in Honduran mahogany

Thanks Monte, I do have some projects related to this sawhorse, like the torsion box workbench that I will post as separate projects.

Robert, I appreciate both your comments and your situation. These were mostly designed with portability in mind, but the small shop is a good place for a space-saving knockdown design too.

Bill, I’m glad you like them. Since they both pack flat and nest, they can hang on the wall efficiently when not in use.

Dan, I would love to build these with more interesting materials, even a nice Baltic Birch would be cool. Some of the new colored plywoods would be awesome.

You received an Editors Choice on this. That award trumps a Top 3! Nice job.

AND I will bet you will have the distinction of being the only Editor’s Choice not being a Top 3.

How is the editor’s choice made? Just curious.

Evidently, the editor’s choice is awarded to those who don’t make the “Top 3” and whine about it. ;)

That’s funny. The reason I asked is I didn’t know if the “editors” are the escalate media folks or some of the woodworkers on the site or what. I’m not the type that will make things of that note, just wondering.
