Your ingenuity was an AH-HA !! moment for me this morning.
I’ve always harbored a slight resentment toward the 6 ft. space dedicated to those long handled tools, shovels, rakes, hoes, pruners and such.
This type of rack will nest quite nicely among the spaces between those long handles. I couldn’t actually afford to dedicate 6 ft. to this rack for occassional use but the combination of both makes me smile now at this option.

I’m glad it could give you some idea’s.

I’m thinking of just using a 2×4 and adding 2 – 10” 1×4’s on the back with the bevel cut on the end for the french cleat.

Neat idea.
if you turned the 2×4 on its edge, you could drill the holes a little deeper which might give more support.

I wonder if 3/4” PVC would be lighter? less chance of scratching your work too.
