I have a Delta Unisaw with the 52” Unifence System, but I would like to upgrade to a Biesmeyer system. Will most Biesmeyer systems fit an older model Unisaw? Mine is a 36-953.

You may (likely) need to replace the ‘rails’ as well. Good luck…

Rif, I don’t know why they wouldn’t. When I bought my unisaw 10 years ago they actually offered it in both a unifence and Biesmeyer fence options. I went with the Biesmeyer system, which I replaced two years ago with the Incra fence. I prefer the Incra for the repeatability. There are some downsides to the Incra. Unless you have tons of space in your shop, getting the 52” out of the Incra requires you to have two stops and you have to adjust the positioner for each one. However, since 90% of my cuts are less than 30”, I don’t have to change it over nearly as often as you would think.

Anyhow, might be worth your while to look at the Incra system. I know that when I got mine it was less than what a replacement Biesmeyer fence would have cost me. I was also able to sell my original fence on craigslist, which brought my cost down even more.

But, I do agree with ScrubPlane, I think the two systems offered on the Delta saw when I bought mine used different rails.

Have your say...
