There are 2 of these listed on our local CL for $500 each. Monte and I are both looking and would appreciate any input from current owners. These are 4 blade models NOT the spiral head ones.

I searched but couldn’t find any reviews on this model so I’m looking to y’all for help (as usual).

if they’re as good as the 15” version then that is a steal so long as they’re in good shape.

As mentioned, if they are in good shape, they are a steal! You can add the spiral head to them when you want (I have the 15” version … got a deal on the Shop Fox which is the same as the Grizzly). I added the spiral head later. I did a write up on changing it out, which you can find on this forum. It’s not too hard to do and makes a world of difference in the cut.

Capacity is where it’s at with planers. Of course there’s an
upgrade in cut stability and perhaps noise reduction if you
add half a ton, but in terms of planing to acceptable
tolerances, I do not think you’ll go wrong going with
any 20” machine. They are simple machines with few
moving parts.

i have one andy
got it years ago
looking thru the mags.
(before i had the net)
noticed they all looked the same
found out they were
some just better priced than others
with different logos on them
think i got mine from sunhill then
but it is tarped on the back porch
(it may even be a grizzly for all i know)

i did get the pozi-blade for it
or whatever they call them
(this before the spiral head was made)

runs great still
a real workhorse
i paid $1,200 new for mine
and at $500

i say go for it

Thanks all!

Not a negative comment in the bunch!

Patron, What an adventure! We both like to do things the hard way cause “poor folks have poor ways”

Well, the guy never called back after I told him I wanted to come look at his planer. He had someone coming to look so I probably missed out :(

I just bought the GO454 20” this afternoon south of Glenpool. I talked to the guy in Tulsa about the other one also. I wii have my Jet 15” with new Byrd spiral head for sale. This head made all the difference in the world in cutting and finish and quite.

I found one a little over two hours away from me for $800 http://youngstown.craigslist.org/tls/4306570714.html I’m wondering if he’d be insulted if I offered only $500? I like the idea of the straight knife planer so I can upgrade to the spiral head that I want, when I’m ready.

Just received a new one last month with the upgraded Grizzly spiral head. Works better then the other Grizzly 15” I had with the normal spiral head. A steal at $500.
