Topic tags/keywords: preservative primer painting finishing modern

Hi Lumberjocks
I need some help with a problem regarding some doors I have almost completed.
They are ‘French doors’ for my niece & her hubby.
I have used New Guinea rosewood which is a very durable outside timber and nice to work with.
I will be handing them over soon and wan’t to protect them prior to off loading.
It may be some time before they do their renovations and have them fitted.
So I wan’t to preserve them with something that will be compatible with the final finishes they will be using.
The problem is they wan’t a gloss finish (black) on the outside and a clear varnish finish to the inside.
Has anyone an idea of what I should use that will be compatible with both finishes?.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I’d use a good oil based primer for the outside and shellac sealcote for the inside.

Thanks Herb but I’m more after something that will do the whole job.

I don’t know of anything that will do both but do show us your doors. PNG Rosewood is almost perfect for anything.

Shellac will be a protection for the doors and everything will cover it.
