Good day all, this is my first post. You folks may already know but I was shocked today to find Grizzly tools for sales on Amazon.ca for us in Canada. Here’s a link to the G0452 6” jointer.

http://www.amazon.ca/Grizzly-G0452-Jointer-6-Inch/dp/B0017IH0V6/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1390605646&sr=1-2&keywords=Grizzly

I have bought tools from Grizzly before but had to drag it across the border. At least for us in BC you endure the WA sales tax before you drag it across and if you have it delivered there are shipping charges. Furthermore shipping is free.

Lets compare the US cost including shipping is $629. The Amazon.ca price is $550 including free shipping.
There is also lot of different machinery available.

That is great. amazon says they won’t ship the jointer to my area (Saskatoon) but a number of the other tools look fine. I wonder what that is about? Its about time amazon.ca started selling stock like amazon.com

I thought about buying Grizzly and even bought a small trial tool purchase. The hassle of getting stuff through customs, the possibility that the warranty is not applicable up here and the cost of shipping it back (and the custums thing again) just discouraged me from buying from them. Not a reflection on Grizzly but just the lack of convienince, I bought General tools that I can actually swing by a store and touch and test before putting the money down. I suspect they all come from the same factory anyway. The little dealing I did have with Grizzly illustrated from me that they have customer service issues like any other company, and I wound up keeping the trial purchase even though it wasn’t up to my expectations but would have taken more time and money to return than it was worth to me.

The pricing is a bit screwy. Some equipment is the same some is double.
