looking at the first forum post available in history, is 2728 days ago and 2871 days ago for projects. so a little under 8 years.
i am curious of it’s history and roots. who came up with the idea? how were the first couple years of members?
i never knew i could purchase a LumberJocks tshirt :) which now i know, i will soon! just wish they had baseball caps or wood working aprons too.
and who exactly is MrsDebbie? i know she (i assume a she) maintains the website.. but also a wood worker?

All I know is I’m 3 days from 4 years.

Martin started this site: Not sure exact dates.

Ms. Debbie is in charge.

MrsDebbie… I love that lumberjocks sign! it seems i’m getting more and more into paraphernalia lately.

@wseand—Thanks for posting the LJ history. I did not know that story existed here.

From the story of LJ page: ”As with any community, growth and features comes with increasing expenses and the need for revenue. In 2007, I realized that participating in ad networks would not be the best long-term plan for LumberJocks. I wanted to ensure that high quality non-invasive advertising was being offered to our members.”

I guess Escalate Media thinks otherwise. ;-)

a1Jim – posts this on a some of the new members home page.

Randy this is the best site out there still IMO, the ads were annoying at first but now I just ignore them.

That’s interesting; I’ve been on this site for almost 4 years and I’d never read that story. It’s too bad that Escalate Media hasn’t stuck with what Martin envisioned for the site. I don’t mind woodworking adverts (the bills have to get paid somehow!) but most of the ads I get are intrusive and obviously spam.

I am in the “advertising is annoying but I can ignore it” category. It’s still my favorite place to be.
