I’m getting ready to start outfitting my new workshop and needed some suggestions for the work space.

The overall dimensions of the room are 8×10. I was thinking about a table that is in the center of the room but I’m wondering if this will be too “in the way”. Maybe something with casters?

For a small shop, what would you guys suggest as a good sized work bench?

What kind of bench? For general joinery

You use power tools right? What about something up against the wall, as an outfeed to your table saw or something to that effect. If you need more room pull it out on castors. Maybe make it 4 feet. So you have room around it. Some shelves or drawers in it for storage. You only have a small area so your going to have to maximize

Shop equipment? Layout? Function? Hand tools? Power Tools? Table saw height? How much work space do you need? What will your build in the 8×10 ft space? Jim Post said “Don’t build anything unless there is a place to put it.” I attached my bench to the wall, made it the height of my table saw. I now have a cabinet saw(lower height) and I just bought a Jorgensen vice (monster) and I have to accommodate both?

Also, storage space for everything shop tool related.

Simple reply to a simple question…..LOL!
