Topic tags/keywords: ljs helpfulness question resource

My list of benefits, especially as a newbie with no one to help teach me, would take pages. Let me share the top five in the short time I’ve been here.

5. Always someone willing to answer my questions.

4. The Projects section stimulates my mind to find a direction I would like to move in.

3. Great place to learn new skills and get referrals to other sources of training.

2. Psychological Therapy while I battle this darn cancer. It helps keep my mind off drugs, doctors, hospitals and believe it or not, I actually have more energy and less pain because of LJs being the foundation of my woodworking experience. They don’t even charge me for the therapy!

AND #1. All of you wonderful LJs! Someone said this site is like a social media similar to Face Book except we have a common interest. NO! Your wrong if you think that! This site has been an answer directly from God for me!

”Friends” on fb are just buddies, Buddies on LJs are really “Friends” who care, encourage and have been a great blessing to me!

Thank you all for your kindness towards me and thank you to the staff that makes this site available!

Now, your turn. What do you find Helpful About LJs?

-- I thank God for everything, especially all of you!

I think the people in the penthouse need to go read some of the posts suggesting disapproval on the changes recently made. I’m in that camp.

I am a fan of the projects page. I love the creativity and the ideas for solving problems. I also enjoy reading the forums. Again, much creativity and much helpfulness.

BREADBOARDS! I don’t make them but I’m constantly gobsmacked by the quality and variety of work. I’m tempted to try one like this. It’s a very high free standing shelf in my music catch all room. All the best Steve.

I find EVERYTHING but the Coffee Lounge helpful. I have a lot of real life friends on here and have met a number of great people. Many of my projects have ideas taken from other people here, and you also learn about things you won’t find in magazines or books on here.

Just heed my warning to stay out of the Coffee Lounge if you want to stay positive about this site.

P.S. an Adblocker will help too.

IF you can reach down near the end of some of the epic threads going, there is a LOT of info going on.

Coffee lounge is NOT for the weak of heart. Should be more like a Combat Zone for a title. Some of the “Regulars ” there are just spoiling for a fight, any fight. Seems they think the place is their private chat room???

Easy to find topics on whatever woodworking you might be interested in. Not nearly as stuffy as some other sites.

You pretty much nailed it Steve… And you’re in my prayers for a complete recovery.

I’m new also and you summed up the quality’s of the forum. I am on a lot of forums, for various different things and the only complaint I have is the style of this forum is the most difficult to navigate that I have seen.

I like Matt and Bandit and Lucas and Andy and about a hundred other folks here. I have made some real good friendships on this site. I have lost a few to. But am a better person for knowing them before they passed on.
LJ’s will always have a place in my heart. I hope to make new friends and learn from them.
The Coffee Lounge is an area that I will not go. It will spoil your experience here.
Steve I do hope you get better and it is nice to meet you.

I keep coming back because of the folks here and their wealth of knowledge. That, in spite of the fact that this software platform is as inconvenient as any I’ve ever used (no offense to the members intended). The other thing I like is the amount of traffic. I belong to another site that might get one post in 2 days (and another one or 2 that’s as busy as this one)! Lots of discussions to follow.
