Do you know your Zip + 4 number? Maybe it is looking for that.

If you have registered your credit card information as part of your account setup, you might have to be sure the zip must be as it appears on your credit card statement, whether it is the right one or not. Ebay might be verifying you thru your Credit Card records. Be sure everything is spelled exactly as it appears on your statement.

While it is possible that it is due to credit card validation, the more likely possibility is the fact that some sites may employ an address verification service. Zips don’t always correspond to what we think of as legal city / township boundaries, they refer to the post office serving a particular area. It is that address that the site most likely wants you to type in.

For example I live in 19020 which maps to the Bensalem, Pennsylvania post office. There are two “hamlets” in our zip called “Cornwells Heights” and “Andalusia”. People still use these as part of their address, however the official postal address is Bensalem.

Make sure the city you are using is the one associated with the Zip Code, and use the Post Office address finder to verify the info.

When I had the problem with paypal, we had just moved to this house. My bank account did not match this address. I went to the bank and fixed it with a change of address there.

Mr.Trim you may want to also consider looking at posting on craigslist or amazon. A lot of people have stopped using e-bay because of the increased fees and all the corporate BS. You might find this an interesting read. http://tinycomb.com/2008/11/25/ten-reasons-why-ebay-died/

Cwest, yes a ‘lot’ of people have quit using eBay – leaving a ‘lot, lot, lot, lot, lot” of people still using it. Those pronouncing it dead are grinding their own axe, not describing reality. Amazon hasn’t had auctions in years, and does not have a location for selling anything but books that I am aware of. Craigslist? Don’t make me laugh. At best, Craigslist lets you reach a local audience – or, with a great deal of work, a handful of local audiences.

Come to think of it, I had a similar problem once trying to enter my work address on St. Charles Avenue, and they would only accept Saint Charles. (Too bad I didn’t remember that before you had to listen to the bad sitar music.) :-)
