Topic tags/keywords: secret drawer lock trick

You might like to incorporate this idea for your scret stuff.

Nothing says “There’s something valuable here!” than the sight of a lock. But what if the lock was invisible and the unlocking key could be transmitted through solid matter? No one would even know there was a lock, much less how to pick it.

That’s what the Secret Knock Activated Drawer Lock does. It hides all of the lock mechanism away and can only be unlocked by something you know: a secret pattern of knocks.

Kinda cool, but what do you do when the battery dies or the power goes out?

I’ve done a few secret cabinets and doors that were unlocked by sticking a rod or nail into a 1/8” hole. A tiny hole isn’t obvious and doesn’t look like a keyhole. One was a concealed drawer for a handgun in a bed headboard, another was a hidden closet in a friend’s house to store his rare guitars (he lived in a bad neighborhood). The closet “door” was a shelf unit that swung out on hinges when the rod in the hole depressed the latch. His house was burglarized several times but they never found the closet. When he moved, he never told the new owners about the closet… I still wonder if they ever figured it out.
