I got this saw at a garage sale for 2$. I have never seen a handle like this before as I am pretty much a power tool user. The brass looking button in the handle says Diston&sons phila. Also there is a number 5 stamped in the blade.Would it be worth restoring, it looks kinda cool to me. Thanks in advance for response.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that's a Disston. Can't guarantee it of course, but that's my wild-guess.
The 5 down in the back corner is for 5 teeth per inch (tpi)
The thumbhole handle might be a D-8. You can look at the patterns on this good website.
Or you can go to this thread ask them there. They like saws. Ask about where to get a decent saw file while you're there so you can sharpen it. They'll be glad to help you out.
Totally worth restoring! I love those thumbhole handles. I'm just now learning how to sharpen on an antique rip saw with 5 tpi also. I don't have it down to a science just yet, but it cuts a lot better than it did when I bought it.
Tell you what…since you're a power tool guy and I'm a hand tool guy, I'll give you $4 for that saw. I mean come on…that's 100% profit for you with no work involved. PM me your paypal address and I'll get payment to you asap.
Skip, trust me when I say: you can't trust these guys. I tell you what, I've got a real nice, never been used, buck brothers crosscut saw that is as sharp as the day it left china. I'll send it to you in the mail, along with a $7 bill so you can ship me back that rusty piece of mess you have laying on your table. Heck mine even has an indestructible plastic handle, so upkeep will be minimal at worse!
