Topic tags/keywords: pc 890pk plunge base somethings broke or something

This is one of those things that it would be a lot easier to show what’s going on instead of trying to type it out. If any of you guys have used the PC 890 Plunge Base, you have learned that when the router is on its top with the base pushed down and locked, that when you un-lock it, the thing slams up unless you apply some pressure to the base. It took me a while to get to where I remembered not to let it slam, but at some time I must have broken a piece in the spring housing. Now when the router is all the way up it seems to get stuck and I have to “wiggle” the handles so the base will plunge. I’ve taken the base apart and I’ve looked at the parts diagram and I can’t figure out what’s wrong or what parts I need to replace. I think that there may have been a small retaining ring in there somewhere that broke. And when it broke, it fell out of the cylinder some way. I hope I haven’t confused everyone too much. I’m not sure if I understand what I’m trying to say. Any help will be appreciated. I don’t want to fork out $100 for a new base. Thanks.

Just wanted to bump this post up to “prime time”. I could really use some help on this. Any suggestions?
