For sale is this Vaughan & Bushnell No.703 smooth plane.
The plane is in fair condition.

According to PTAMPIA II, this is an ‘Uncle Sam’ series plane. It has the drop forged steel base. V&B claimed to have test dropped one of these from 100 ft onto concrete with no damage to the plane.
V&B made planes from ~1910 through ~1940. The company is still in business in Illinois selling ‘Made in the USA’ hand tools.

Ok, enough history.

This plane is showing it’s age a bit.
The sides of the base casting have some pitting. There is also some pitting on the sole, but not nearly as much. The sole appear to have had some work done to it.
There is also some pitting on the cutting iron, cap iron and lever cap.
The base and frog appear to have been re-painted.
The frog mounting on this plane is rock solid. Very similar to the Stanley Bedrock.

The only work I have done on this plane is to clean off some dust, dirt and schmutz. It works good the way it is, but it could use some tuning. The iron needs to be sharpened and the cap iron may need a little ‘tuning’.

All together a nice little smoother.

Asking $25 & shipping. This will fit in a medium flat rate box so shipping will be $12.35 (or less).

Would you consider shipping to Canada? Does Paypal work for you?

Sorry, it is just too much of a hassle to ship outside the continental US. Life is too short.
My apologies to all living outside the lower 48.

Understood. I’m used to it by now. Plenty of V&B buyers out there for ya!
