Well, I am a fellow Orange Countian, and I say, “Meh.”

the chisel seems outta whack. You can buy a whole set for 40. (Albeit not Sorby, but WHO CARES? It’s a chisel!) Do you really want 1 lone unmatched Sorby chisel?
Board buddies are a good deal IF you need em.

So if you NEED them, buy them, otherwise, I can’t condone.

Offer $25. on the board buddies, otherwise, does not sound like anything special.
Pass on it. There are many “deals” still to unfold, keep looking.

Best,
Peter

Sorby bench chisels aren’t any better than Marples. They
tend to have nicer handles though.

New Marples chisels may be made in Asia and some folks
are suspicious. The old Sheffield ones were good chisels
for the money. You can get “blue chip”, “splitproof” and
various wood handles on ebay for reasonable prices
if you keep your eye out.

Lee Valley Tools offers a couple of lines of basic well-made
bench chisels and several lines of higher end ones.
