I am new here and thought I would introduce myself and share an interesting old school carpentry trick.

I like miters, but large miters don’t always handle natural movement in wood due to changes in humidity. Often there is a time honored alternative, like coping. Coping is not always possible though. Here is another option, the Jack Miter. The flat of the molding is butt-jointed and the profiled area is mitered. I pocket screw the flat together on the backside.
