Topic tags/keywords: pm band saw

In real good shape, he wants $475 but is it worth it? Model 043

You need to give more details.
Which kind of saw is it?
The color says Powermatic.
A while ago I was looking at one and I read the reviews about it , the reviews were less than good.
Did you read the reviews for this saw?
Do your home work first then ask questions if you need to.

It’s a Powermatic Bert,it’s abbreviated in the title PM.
OHtimberwolf
Jump on it with both feet, seems like a super bargain.

Here’s a little information about it. Scroll down a little. It seems it’s a lower end model than I thought but the fact it’s a PM should still make it a decent value.

Eh. $350 maybe.

It doesn’t come with a fence. Something to consider.

Values depend on local inventory. I see 18” and 20”
saws in my area selling for that $500 price range.

Thanks for that link, I hadn’t seen that one, as usual you are helpful. I did see several reviews but it seemed they were back and forth and one even said it took a 99 inch blade and was underpowered so I thought I would see what the fellows here thought as I feel I can trust their judgments.

Bert, “Do your home work first then ask questions if you need to.”
I really don’t think that your response reflects the general attitude of the others here as I have found them quite open to user’s questions regardless of whether they thought someone had done any research. If my questions irritate you please feel free to ignore them in the future. Better that way. larry

I think I will pass on this

i’m no fan of powermatic, but a 14” steel frame BS might be a good buy, if not at $475, then at maybe $400? is the exact model number known, as well as it’s specs? new PMs aren’t worth what they cost, but even PMs might present good values at the right price.

Loren you are a lucky guy, I have been looking for used 17 or 18 band saw for several months, I never saw one.
This is why I bought a new one.
A while ago it was a 14 Powermatic for sale ,I checked the reviews specially Fine woodworking, it came last in the review.
$300 for this saw would be ok.
I just sold my fully tricked out HF for $225 with 8 brand new blades

Thank you Larry
