Topic tags/keywords: band saw bandsaw rockwell delta rockwelldelta vintage question

I am going to take a look at this saw this afternoon:

I am new to band saws and a first year woodworker so any thoughts on this saw would be appreciated. Also, what to look at/common issues when I go this afternoon. Thanks!

A 10” is saw is awful small and you’ll soon wish it was bigger. I’d wait for a 14” saw.

I think it’s the same model as in these threads:

Here’s another one with an pic the the internals

I think the model number could be a 28-100, or 28-113 from the 60’s to 70’s

Good luck!

+1 to Bondo’s comment,a 10” is too small, when I started woodworking I bought a Ryobi bandsaw and a a year or so after bought a 10” rockwell/Beaver bandsaw ,both were good enough for small projects but I soon out grew them,I think a 14” is the smallest bandsaw I would recommend to anyone shopping for one.

I will sell the 10” rockwell soon, the most I could get for it is $60.

I think it would be an ok saw for smaller scroll work. I have a Ryobi 9” saw for smaller stuff and sometimes wish it were a little more powerful with a more substantial base. This Rockwell would fit the bill well. My bigger saw is 3hp 20”, while I do have smaller blades for it, most of the time it’s set up for resaw work. The Rockwell could be a nice smaller saw down the line as a bigger saw might be needed for heavier work.

I’ll wait for a 14” band saw to show up.
