Thought it would be fun to see how cold it is where you live. I will start it off.

It’s so cold that I stepped out of the shop the other day with a cup of hot coffee in hand. The coffee froze so fast the ice was still warm. :)

Gonna be 75 here in Alabama today. I’d like to take this time to personally thank my anscestors for foreseeing my need to spray lacquer a week before Christmas.

I am in SC and we have been having CRAZY weather. One week it was in the teens in the morning and the highs did not get above the mid 20s. Then it went to 60s and 70s for a few days of torrential rains. Now it is misty and in the higher 40s and supposedly going to be in the 60s again I think. BUT, it is supposed to be cold for Christmas hahahaha. I hate the weather here, you never know what it is going to be!

+3°F. Compared to earlier in the week, we’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave… On the brightside, it’s only supposed to dump 6-8 inches of snow today.

It’s been below freezing in Arkansas, but a little warmer today. Yesterday I sparyed lacquer and I couldn’t get it to dry. Took about 3 times as long.

A couple days ago the HIGH was minus 5 degrees. But here in Minnesota we find fun things to do in even the coldest weather. At minus 25 degrees you can whip a full glass of water in the air and it will instantly freeze into a mist and none of it will hit the ground in a liquid state. I’ve done it – it works. Food coloring in the water is even more fun.

The rest of you are just sissies.

I hunted up near Delta in 58 below. It felt good when it warmed up to 25 below. At 80 below or 3 feet of snow school buses run a little late up here while an inch of snow in some of the lower 48 cities cripples them for days. You folks down south may have some fair weather but we get the northen lights up close and personal, moose in our back yards and snow up to our eyeballs (a good thing in some viewpoints).

Here in Manitoba the temperature was -27 Celsius, with a wind chill bringing it down to -43C.
I’m with you, Boardman!
However, here in the summer, it once got so hot that the corn popped right on the corncobs in the field. When the cows came out of the barn, they thought the popcorn was snow, and they all froze to death.

I don’t know if it is any indication of the winter to come but squirrels started storing nuts in 55 gallon barrels last fall. The snow is so deep we have ceased to use the vertically enhanced Native American method of measuring snowfall.

I returned to Gainesville from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula last Friday. When I left, Lake Superior had sent over so much “lake effect” snow that even my 18” boots were covered over. Today, according to NOAA, my shop in the U.P. is in the low single digits with a brutal wind chill factor. The snow is still falling almost continuously. This is great weather for snowmobiliers, skiiers, and ice fishermen.

Here in Gainesville Florida we hit 80 degrees today.

Southwest Florida is a sunny 78 with very low humidity. this is the weather that makes living in Florida the rest of the year bearable. aside from all the tourists and snowbirds winter, Nov-Feb, is the best time to be here. after that its nothing but unbearable humidity and grown man diaper rash for 8 months. next Saturday is our neighborhood pig roast and we couldn’t ask for any better weather.

A small amount of snow and a bit of ice on the ground, freezing rain falling at this moment, but it’s not as bad as some places. It’s supposed to get to single digits this weekend. I don’t enjoy the cold as much as I did as a child and it got us off of school.

25 degrees and 3 inches of snow. Highly unusual. It’s supposed to rain here. Everything has ground to a halt. No thawing is forecast until after Christmas. In a couple nights, it is supposed to tie a low temp record from 1949 of 17 degrees.

The past 5 days in Dallas TX has provided low 20s early in the week, then a 1-2 inch sleet storm, then lows in the 30s and DENSE freezing fog, then lows in the 40s and fog and rain. Today (Friday) is bright, sunny and mid 70s. The weekend is to turn to the 20s again on Sunday. I AM NOT complaining. Lived in S.Dakota early 60s, Maine late 60s and the S.West ever since. Even though I enjoyed playing in the snow as a kid I would MUCH rather be warm. I do miss the beauty of it however.

Got up this morning to -25C (approx 14F below) small skiff of snow overnite so will use my leaf blower to clean off the sidewalks & driveway after lunch. So we got 6” of the white stuff, then it rained and froze yesterday. My driveway has about a 12” drop over the first 15’, I could not back the truck into the driveway, it stuck and held fast within 15 feet. Usually I am lucky enough to get it into the driveway before getting it stuck so bad we need the skid-steer to pull it out.

Calling for a high of 16F today and I get to go play ski rescuer all day long. Yesterday’s skiing was crappy.
