My brother was over yesterday and needed to drill four 1 3/8 holes for some cabinet door hinges. The idea was simple, clamp a board to the drill press 3/4 inch from center as a guide but where exactly is the center of the drill press? That big Forstner bit was no help the center point is huge. The most pointy thing I had in the shop was a metal scribe, its pretty much a needle point. He marked some scrap 3/4 from edge with a pencil and I was able to put the point in the center of the pencil line, worked great and saved time trying to eyeball this setup.
