I’ve been struggling to fix my bosch belt sander for over a year now.

I’ve replaced brushes twice to no avail. 1st time around I replaced brushes using my common since, which apparently is enough. It ran for a short time but brushes quickly broke apart.

Second time I replaced brushes I noticed the front screw cap that retains the spring loaded brush was moving in and out. There seems to be a sleeve that slides in and out even if the plastic cap retaining it is fully tightened. This second set of brushes partially broke. I also noticed more sparking within the motor than I think it should.

Is this sleeve supposed to move in and out causing the brush not to sit properly? Please see pics. The problem parts are the brush labled 810 and possibly 16.

Actual belt sander:

Any repair suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
