Topic tags/keywords: table saw

I bought a new portable (jobsite) table saw for some hardwood floors I am putting in and a new kitchen. I previously used a pretty basic one.

I made maybe 10 cuts fine. Then I adjusted the height of the blade and everything I feed in gets cut a few inches and barely makes it to the anti-kickback pawls. The blade keeps spinning but I can’t push the material any further.

I thought the knife was out of alignment, but that looks good. The knife is not holding up the material from going through. I moved the kickback pawls out of the way and it still gets stuck. The blade is high enough. I can’t see anything that it is getting stuck on. Any ideas? I’ve made 100s of cuts on my old saw without issue.

It could be as simple as flushing up the throat insert with the table surface. Put a straight edge spanning over the table and insert and see if it is flush, if not adjust the set screws beneath the insert until it is in plane with the saw table.

If the insert is low at the back, stock can easily hang up on the edge of the table behind the insert.

There could be other issues, but that is a good place to start.

Not sure but this is what I would try.
Make a cut part way through a piece of wood a couple inches past where you get hung up and stop the cut. Raise the blade to where you are having trouble and see if you can push the wood through in the same slot cut or not. I would think that would tell you something but I’m not sure what as I have never had that problem. Interesting!

The throat sticking up in the back was it. Thanks
