Just wanted everyone to know that I’m through with Lumberjocks. I had started another profile awhile back for my business. I tried posting my first post. I must have broke some rule or something because it never got posted and I can no longer log on or do anything. What really bothers me is that I got no notification that I got kicked off or anything. If I did do something wrong, I would like to know. I have tried resetting the password and contacting the LJ’s through the link in the e-mail several times. I have heard nothing so, I’m tired of waiting and being ignored. I’m sorry to do this, because I loved this site but, I QUIT!

I’m sorry you feel that way. I do know that there was a time a few months back where this was a common problem. The site changed hands and management and I believe also underwent some maintenance which caused some issues. The truth is that this site exists for thousands of us to be on here looking at the advertisements. I doubt that anyone has targeted you to be ignored. If you love this site I would advise you to stay.

Not sure what exactly the post was but it could have violated this part of the terms of service agreement

upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail,” “spam,” “chain letters,” “pyramid schemes,” or any other form of solicitation, except in those areas that are designated for such purpose.

If you re-joined and used same IP it might not let you post.
Try joining back up at a neighbors house, coffee shop, etc.

So Doug, you’re saying that 2 woodworkers living together (sharing an IP address) couldn’t have separate LJ accounts?

You could just change your name on the profile used to post this topic to that of your business (?)

Can’t speak to LumberJocks, but other sites have this feature.
Protects against spamming I guess.
If LJ doesn’t have it now, I bet they will someday.

EDIT: can have several accounts and use same computer, just need to set them up at different locations.

patcollins- The post was nothing of the kind. The post was voicing my opinion on a subject on LJ’s. I have seen post like that all the time. There was no profanity, insults, nothing of the kind. I am most frustrated about no one will give me an answer. If I done something wrong fine, but let me know what.

Did you PM Ms. Debbie directly? She’s the one constant on LJs…

It is my understanding that in order to post a topic, blog or project, one must first post at least 3 replies on the site. Only after you’ve posted the three replies are you considered not to be a spam monger, your first topic is then checked by the mods once more for spam before being allowed into the forums. If you get this far, you are then allowed to do whatever you want.
Your post didn’t contain the words [edited by moderator], [edited by moderator] or [edited by moderator] did it?

I see you’ve been a member for several years. You currently have one functioning account. I’m not sure I’d let some snags with a second account drive you to quit.

why go through the trouble of letting us know you are going to quit. It seems to me if you want to quit, then you should just go ahead and quit, why waste a thread about this subject of ‘quitting’. Your quitting requires no extra communication on your part.

Of course if you are looking to stir a pot, or maybe you are looking for sympathy or fellow LJ members to feel sorry for you, then I could see the need to start this thread. Otherwise if your not looking for a pity party and just want to quit, just go, no need to let any of us know.

Maybe you are just looking for help, but starting a thread about quitting is not a good way to ask for help.

Jerry, you are the man, stole the words right out of my mouth.
As far as I know, the rule is one IP address, one account.otherwise one person can start his/her own thread and argue back and forth under different names and start a world war III

I never comment on these types pf rants, but your ignorance struck a chord with me.

Of all the ways you could’ve handled your situation, you chose to publicly and somewhat theatrically quit the site, all apparently due to your own lack of understanding as to how the site works. This sort of nonsense drives me nuts. How this is any different from a toddler wailing on the floor, i dont know. And that people above are still kind enough to look past your pettiness and try to help speaks volumes about the quality of folks on the site. I however will treat your tantrum like I would a toddler…no coddling.

Oh and to think that you are somehow owed something by this site is laughable. Since you’re looking to promote you business -for free- wouldn’t it be in your best interest to peacefully resolve your technical issue?

So if you do truly quit the site, good riddence. It’ll bring up the average a bit!
