I did a search and it says to to make sure in your tools that the pop up blocker is on and it is but still getting these F^&^%%* pop ups and they are driving me nuts

Go to the Chrome (maybe FireFox too) website and install Adblock Plus. It’s free and works very well. -Jack

telrite, I use Chrome with AdBlock. I have never experienced what you described. It sounds more serious that a pop-up ad.

My suggestion is that you download the free version of AVG Anti-Virus if you don’t already have an anti-virus program running on your computer.

I use IE10 (Oh STOP…LOL..) Windows 7 and I have AVG Free. I don’t see anything like this.

However, I don’t think an Anti Virus is your Solution. Maybe Though! If you DON’T Have one ….. That’s NOT GOOD!! Mark recommended AVG Free. I’ve had a LOT of them but He’s right. In my Opinion they are the best one out there and they constantly Update, Add New Components and just get Better.

Unless someone else comes on here and says they are having the same problem, I think you’ve got a Cookie or something like that on YOUR Computer that’s causing this. I don’t believe this site is CAUSING Your Problem.

Yahoo Games is famous for this Pop Up Crap.

I would do 2 things at this point. 1/ Get 1 or 2 GOOD Computer Cleaners and get rid of ALL the Junk Files on your Computer. I Have “Clean Up” and “Internet Window Washer” A lot of guys on here use “CC Cleaner.”

2/ Male sure you are SIGNED IN whenever you come on here and you STAY Signed In. Somehow I got Auto Signed Out Last Week and all kinds of weird things stared going on. I shut it down and came back in.

I did a Screen Shot Yesterday on my “Free Window Washer” Just Prior to “Washing”. This is the Result of 4 Days of “Bopping” around the WWW. It’ll show you how many Cookies and Temporary Internet Files you can pick up in that time. I’m just going to show the Cookie Page and Summary Page. Look at the Totals!!!!

I have a Mac and have been using adblock for about 3 years. It’s amazing, as I have no pop-ups at all, anywhere.
As I’m writing this, there are NO ads on lumberjocks staring me in the face.
It’s free, but they ask you to donate what you can if you choose to.
I donated $25.00 through my Amazon account.
I couldn’t be happier.

telrite have have adware/spyware on your computer. The most common cause of it is peoples kids/grandkids see something that says “free” something or other and they allow it to get on there. Installing things even as simple as a toolbar can put it on your computer, alot of times if you read the terms of service agreement it even says so right in there that you agree to be targeted for “limited” advertisement.

You got some good advise above, there are many different programs that can do the job, usually you need to employ a combination of different services.

I like using the chrome browser, Avast Antivirus, C Cleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy. Also make sure you have windows firewall turned on.

Finally Microsoft has a free scanner that you can run in addition to all your other security software that seems to work really well, gets updated frequently and is only an on demand scanner so it doesnt constantly run slowing your computer down. This is the first thing I would do.

are you signed in?
There shouldn’t be any pop-up ads .. just the advertising along the side panel and the very top (these are what pay the bills)

If you aren’t signed in there are more ads that appear. Not sure what they all are as I am always signed-in.

Totally Agree with MsDebbie and I really think that might be ONE of your Problems as I also mentioned above.

I tried it and logged out and came back in without signing in. A couple of Pop Ups that I could close.

What surprised me was that every time I read a Post or Anything that had a Type of Tool Mentioned (Saw, Plane Etc) it was Highlighted as a Link. There’s a Techie Term/Name for them “Hyperlink?”

So ….. I just had to try a few. They ALL went to the same site NOT SURE OF THIS NAME but it was something like “Shoprite” or “Shop’nSave”. They’re what I call an “Intermediary Site” or a “Click Through” and they give you a list of Other Sites to go to and see whatever it was you clicked on. That’s how they make their Money.

NOW!! That might have been a consequence of something (Cookie?) I have on my Computer and MAYBE something on this Site.

AlaskaGuy: With Respect I’ve had Malwarebytes on here for 2 Years. They have yet to Nail Anything. Even when I run a Quick or Full Scan using them. They’re also suppose to do Automatic Updates. They never do. I have to do it when I Open Their File to do a scan. Yes. I’ve Ticked “Automatic Updates”.

”Windows Firewall” has also never Gotten/Stopped anything either. In fact I was having a Problem for a long time on here. It turned out to be Windows Firewall that was causing it by Interfering with other Windows programs. I FINALLY after a lot of effort got it totally off of here thanks to “Revo Uninstaller”. Problems Gone.

Some days “AVG Free” keeps me hopping! Depending on how many Actions I’ve Ticked for them to perform.

I gotta Laugh at them. They Stop a Virus, I get a message ”You Just Dodged A Bullet! Relax. We got it.” Along with all the details. GREAT ANTI VIRUS! and I’ve tried 4 or 5 others.

Keep Us up to date on how you’re doing please Al. Only heard from you once when you Posted 4 Days ago and you haven’t been On Site since then.

Thanks: Rick
