I’m almost, but not quite at a loss for words. After rambling on awhile ago about wanting to improve my router table, I got a PM from a fellow Canadian, LJ Doe. She had a router table top that she wasn’t using. After looking at some options to get it to me, and my protests, here’s what arrived by mail. Anyone who deals with Canada Post knows this wasn’t cheap.

The whole time I was opening the boxes I was humbled by the fact that this gift is a huge act of kindness by a person who is asking nothing in return. Anyone who thinks that those people no longer exist needs to spend a little time on this website.

Not only did she send me a router table top, but also a set of router bits, router fence and a right-angle sled, insert plates and all the instructions. I have some smaller Veritas tools from Lee Valley and love them.
Here’s what it will look like when assembled, and I’m already sketching out a cart that it will sit in.

I turned to woodworking to deal with the stresses of being on a medical roller coaster for the past 2 1/2 years. I joined this site to find answers to woodworking questions and to get ideas and look at tool reviews.
What I found was a whole lot more and I’m blessed to have my LJ friends in my life.

Merry Christmas Doe. And again, thank you very much.

Obviously doe is a wonderful person. But it says just as much for you to draw this kind of consideration. I hope both of you have a very happy holiday season.

Congrats on your present. I’ve had the Veritas Router table for 9+ years, love it and know you will too. I got tired of lifting the top after seeing lots of videos with people using lift systems last year and drilled two holes in the top to provide access to the lift on the plunge mech of my Freud router and closed up most of my base with a port for a dust collector. This made the router table even better.

An amazing gift from an amazingly generous LJ Doe. Randy said it very well.
You’ll have a blast with it, Sandra. The RT is the second most used tool in my shop.
Is that a pin router attachment in the picture? If it is, it will increase your fun exponentially.
