I am finally upgrading to a cabinet saw and am torn between two different models:

Steel City 35965
Grizzly G0690

Both are left tilt, 3HP cabinet saws but the Steel City has the motor on the right side as opposed to the left side. This is a pro for me as I currently have an Incra router table on the left side of table saw which i would lose if I go with the Grizzly. The Grizzly has a very good reputation, but the Steel City i have not seen much comment (good or bad) regarding that model.

Anyone have the Steel City 35965 (or longer rail version, the 35975) that can comment? I am particularly interested in the trunnion/motor mounting arrangement. The Grizzly has a very robust design the i like, but i wish it were mounted on the right side.

I’d pick up a used American made Unisaw in the same price range. Or better yet, save up and get a SawStop.

I have had my G0690 for a few months now. I love it!! put on a good blade and it has taken anything I can throw at it ( coming from a POS craftsman ) cant say enough about this saw, knotscott was a big help.

I own two major pieces of Grizzly equipment, a bandsaw and a planer. Love them both. Service is great. For me, that is enough to make me go back when number three comes along.

If you choose Grizzly, this post may be of interest to you.

Thanks guys. I have decided to get the Grizzly (I was leaning that way). Anyone have interest in an Incra left side router table, since this won’t fit on the new saw?
