A free MAHOGANY outfeed table, thats what!

Took this home from work today. They’re doing a large clean up of our main storage room. This has been sitting for YEARS. I work for a company that builds scenic elements for Disney, Universal, many opera houses, as well as corporate events such as GE, etc etc. These were made for i think a company called Atria, there were two. A lot of the time we build elements, only for them to do a show or two with them, then they sit in our warehouse for years. Wouldn’t believe the stuff I’ve taken home. Before i knew these were available, i almost snagged a REALLY cool lectern for phillip morris.

There’s actually a second shelf below the top. I took the “arm rest” portion off the other, to fill in the top.

It’s abouit 7’ long, 36” wide, 34” tall. Has adjustable feet too. Really nice table. I have to add some support in the middle of the top, as it’s only mahogany plywood. I think I’m going to grab the rest of the 2nd one for the ply to make more shelves.

Hey, bout time, i get a “gloat” haha.

I plan on using it as a bench too, don’t know how it will hold it, i definitely need to get some support on the back half of the top.

but for free, i can’t complain.

You shouldn’t have told us that.

The story should have been, “Look what I made with free mahogany”. Then you’ld have half of us saying “what a fantastic outfeed build” and the other half saying “what a waste of good mahogany”.

But you still suck either way! ;)

That saw looks mighty nice :)

That is one nice ass outfeed table, let me know if they throw anymore of those away LOL, are you going route in some T tracks for yourself?

I’m not sure exactly what i will do with it yet. when the need arises I’ll deal with it. But for now its working great! Already puttin it to use. It’s not as heavy duty as it looks. It’s only 3/4” ply, with some trim around hte top and bottom. I’d say probably 150-200 lbs maybe. It wasn’t moving when i was planing on it so its probably fine.

Got my new blade yesterday, cut some 8/4 cherry with the saw. Works flawlessly. Love it!

Tefinn- I thought about it lol. I’m surprised someone hasn’t chimed in saying its a waste using it for a bench. But what the hell, its 7’ long, i have NO use for it in my house.

Not to mention it saved me probably $300 for a table.

Personally I’d chop it down at least 2-3ft and use that wood for drawer fronts and build either a group of 6 drawers or a stack of 3 and some cabinet doors and use the under side for storage and get it on some movable casters and double layer the top and cut in some T track…just my 2 cents, nice score though.

Well, there’s one more at work minus the top. In the 2nd pic, the piece with the wholes, is from the 2nd one at work. There is a shelf below it. I’m going to grab the rest of it and use it to add shelves. I think the 3/4” will suffice. I was planing a 8/4 bench side with a #7 and it wasn’t even budging.

Have your say...
