Folks,
There is a Shopsmith Pro Planer for sale on my local Craigs List. It is 8 years old and judging by the pics it looks to be in pretty good shape. The seller claims it belonged to his dad. His dad apparently passed away and the son is selling the planer among other tools. The seller claims it got very little use. He is asking $600. I am doing some research on this machine and I would greatly appreciate any feedback (good and bad) you could provide. I see on the Shopsmith website a new one is approximately $1700.

Price is high. They are a little sought after as they
have a variable speed feed motor. Good deal at $300.

You can check ebay for sellers willing to ship them
sell them for. Last I looked it was in the $450 range.

Is a variable speed feed motor good or bad?
