Does anyone have a good source for Amboyna Burl that is suitable for guitar tops?

I can find alot of pen blanks and knife scales, but not much that would be suitable for tops.

Needs to be at least 1/2” x 7” x 14” or so.

Ebay has a few slabs but they are pretty expensive.

Any guys on this forum specialize in this kind of wood?

If you are willing to think alternative woods, I think you’ll find that other burls are available. Amboyna is incredibly expensive in any size as you’ve found. Les Paul size? Check out Bad Dog Burls (lots of Aussie burls) and Global Woods in San Jose, CA (David marks has bought a bit here). Hope this helps.

Thanks! I would definitely be open to alternatives if it were my guitar. My brother wants to build a guitar and has his heart set on it…so it was going to be a Christmas present. I was perusing the Oregon Burls site and found some stuff that I really liked that was MUCH more reasonable…including a spalted maple blank that would make a several awesome telecaster tops…
