Might be busy with comet Ison. I don’t know, why don’t you ask Jesus next time you’re talking to Him?

If it’s a little tactless, antagonistic action your after, pop over to Clint’s thread here. http://lumberjocks.com/topics/55450

He reminds me a little of Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth’s gaffing consort.

DKV: ”...Where’s Horizontal?...”
I was taking the very SAME sabbatical that YOU were. ;-)

I checked. Notice your week-long gap in posting.

HM, if you check back in, was comet Ison the spectacle it was hyped up to be? There was a lot of talk of it being the comet of the century but I haven’t seen anything of late, was it a damp squib?

HM to DKV: “I was taking the very SAME sabbatical that YOU were”

Coincidence or are they one and the same, two parts of the whole. the Yin and the Yang? You decide.

Stranger things have been known to happen.

HM, what I don’t understand is how I got caught up in your mess. I thought I was doing pretty good.

renners, I have asked The Jesus. In fact, numerous folks on LJ’s have asked me to pass on messages and I gladly do so. A few have also asked me to pray for them and help them in their time of moral need. I oblige all…

Don’t be silly. All serious requests for prayer are pm’ed to me. Please don’t make fun of The Jesus.

TLJFKAR (renners),

Yeah, something like that. Maybe more along the lines of Shoeshine Boy and Underdog.

The Lumberjock formerly known as renners: _”...HM, if you check back in, was comet Ison the spectacle it was hyped up to be? There was a lot of talk of it being the comet of the century but I haven’t seen anything of late, was it a damp squib?...”

Wow! Funny you ask! I got up at 4am this morning and spent the next two hours outside looking to the east for Comet Isom. No luck,... until about 6:10am or so when I finally spotted it again, first time since before it passed by the Sun last week.

It was about 20 degrees in elevation, above the horizon, and looked much the same as before its encounter with the Sun, a small roundish fuzz ball with no defined center. The big difference this time was that I was able to actually find it with a pair of 10×42 binoculars, though it still was NOT visible to the naked eye.

I then drug out my little Orion 80ED telescope with an 8-24mm zoom eyepiece and was able to see it beginning with 24mm (25x magnification at 24mm and 75x at 8mm). It was starting to get light out at this point and the contrast in the eyepiece was quite low. I started to increase the power of the zoom, which in turn increased the contrast as seen in the eyepiece. As odd as it sounds, comet Isom actually looked “better” at higher magnifications because of the increased contrast, since it was becoming light, near dawn. So bottom line is that YES, I found Comet Isom to be a rather neat event, though those in more light polluted environments may not be able to spot it.

Hey Chuck,
don’t forget to check in on Dakremer and RockyTopScott as well since we all shared a room in the LJs purgatory hotel this past week. They should be well rested at this point, and ready to re-enter society too… ;-)
