I have a Jet 12 inch bandsaw with a 1/2 inch blade. I’m trying to make a bandsaw box with drawers like I’ve seen done on You Tube. I can make 6 inch deep cuts, so I’m using a block of wood about 5 3/4×5. The problem is after making the first cut the blade did not cut straight, it bowed or curved. I checked the blade tension and it appeared to be set correctly.
Any suggestions?

You need a much narrower blade to make bandsaw boxes. I use 1/8”-1/4” blades for cutting bandsaw boxes. The narrower the blade, the tighter the radius you can cut.

Switch to a new blade…

I would say switch to a new blade and I use a 1/4” blade for my band saw boxes . A 1/2” blade is to wide to make the cuts you need for bandsaw boxes. When you use a blade like that and try to make the sharp cuts for a band saw box you dull the blade a lot faster b3ecause it is binding instead of a smooth cut
