Topic tags/keywords: resource question strip brush

I’ve been searching the internet for a source for that lineal brush material to put around the dust cover on the sander I’m building. I see it on all sorts of industrial machines but cant seem to find a source for it close to me.
I was hoping to find and industrial dealer rather than having to do toa factory with a samllorder for about 4 feet of brush.

I’m looking for something like this:

I know it’s not exactly what you are looking for, but what about a door sweep? I think you can find these at home centers and hardware stores fairly inexpensively.

This is a huge URL but give it a try – it is 48 inches mounted with a screw plate -

under 16 dollars for 4 feet in an aluminum holder

I was thinking of using door sweep but the brush part is 3/4”. That’s usually the thckness of the woods I am sanding so I will not be able to trap the vacuum as well as I could with a 1-1/2 or 2” bristle.
I want the bristle to trail about 1/4” off the deck to allow the air to sweep in to the duct collection hood.

This is really nuts and probably somebody has it a few block from me. :-(

So what was the deal you got Bob.

Also the shipping on a 48” piece would be greater than 4 – 12” pieces. I thought you stated earlier that you ordered a 48” piece and the shipping was very high.

Hi Karson:
The overall width of my sander drum is 28” so I opted for 2 -36” pieces of medium bristle polyproplene with a metal backing from McMaster Carr.
I’ll keep you all posted as the build progresses. I still have to swap out the base under the drum for a thicker piece of Mdf and set about deciding if I will build a gear drive to push the material though.

Cheers
Bob

Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, due to the ever increasing complexity of United States export regulations, McMaster-Carr will only process orders from a few long-established customers in Canada. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes you.

I wish you could put that information up on your website as my time is as valuable as anyone’s else.
