I have a Delta 3 hp shaper with an aluminum fence. I was looking at the Powermatic aluminum fences and they have grooves to mount auxiliary fences. Has anyone found extrusions to buy that can be used on the Delta shaper for better fences?
Also, is a 4 wheel power feeder more usefull than a 3 wheel? 1/4hp or 1 hp?

I love shapers and have owned a few of them so far. We have used the 1/4hp feeder from Grizzly and it worked great for us. We have a 3 wheel 1 hp power feeder and it works great also. We also have a 4 wheel 1 hp power feeder and it works great. I certainly would not enjoy using a shaper without a power feeder. As for fences, we use shop made wood fences that screw onto the shaper fence. I typically prefer to plunge my cutter through the wood fence for a zero clearance effect. I also like having some fence under the spinning cutter as well so that my part will always be in contact with the fence during the cut.

Shapers can be dangerous, but when properly used and with a power feeder, they are actually fairly safe.

Just this past week we had to raise a panel that was only going to be a few inches wide. I lost some sleep wondering how we could do this with maintaining an element of safety. So we utilized a sled and it worked great.

Does anyone know if a fence from a Powermatic PM2700 will work on a Delta 3 hp shaper?
I am looking for a company to buy extrusions from for tool fences.

You might try 80/20 aluminum extrusions.
