Topic tags/keywords: question walnut maple arts and crafts shaker

We recently bought a new house and I’m planning on making a set of end tables and lamps for our living room. We have Konetco laminate flooring, which looks remarkably like walnut. My question is, what wood or combination thereof would work well to complement the “walnut” floor? I know maple looks great with walnut, but I think it would be a bit much to make an entire table from walnut. I’ve thought of going for a maple table with walnut accents, but I just cant visualize how that would work. The look I’m going for is modern with just a touch of rustic charm, I’m also somewhat limited in how I can work the wood, I don’t own a lathe, so I cannot do any turning. My designs tend to gravitate into one of two categories: Mission or Shaker; so, with that in mind, you can get a pretty good idea of what my tables are going to look like. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you thought about cherry? It will darken with age or it can be darkened artificially.

Toast bamboo or clear coated red or white oak are my favorite accent colors with walnut.
